Twilight of the Gonads is a book written by Professor Gargan, an instructor of English at the Catholic women's college (Saint Fidgeta and Other Parodies, 75).

The title begs similarities to Götterdämmerung, or Twilight of the Gods, the last of the four operas that comprise Richard Wagner’s The Ring of the Nibelung, and is a translation of the Old Norse phrase Ragnarök, which in Norse mythology refers to a prophesied war among various beings and gods that ultimately results in the burning, immersion in water, and renewal of the world[1].

In this context, twilight refers not to dusk but to twilight years, an idiom for old age[2]. Gonads is slang for the testicles[3]. You figure it out.
