The residence of the wizard Prospero is located near the village of Brakespeare in the Southern Kingdom. It is described as a “ridiculous, doodad-covered, trash-filled two story horror of a house" (The Face in the Frost, 1).
The house has, both inside and out, a random assortment of peculiar possessions, trivial trinkets, and unlikely and anachronistic nonsense.
History[]
Any previous inhabitants are doubtful as it said Prospero's teacher and mentor, Michael Scott, "built a good deal of the house" and laid powerful spells upon its hearthstone. Years later, Prospero reveals there were things about his house he still did not understand (Face, 35-6).
Exterior[]

The highest point of the house, atop the slate roof, was the "glass-enclosed, twisty-copper-columned" observatory, whose artichoke dome featured a dancing hippopotamus-shaped weather vane.
