The Pan Am Building is a building that is mentioned in the notes found in the desk of a New York advertising executive as a location that President Lyndon Johnson and the next pope visiting the United States could both happen upon and have a surprise - yet scheduled - meeting (Saint Fidgeta and Other Parodies; 30).

Influence[]

The Pan Am Building is a 59-story skyscraper at 200 Park Avenue at East 45th Street above Grand Central Terminal in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.  Built in 1960–63 as the headquarters of the Pan American World Airways, it was the largest commercial office space in the world by square footage.  The Metropolitan Life Insurance Company bought the building in 1981[1].
