Orcus Cardinal Bugloss is the bishop of Ravenna, Georgia, and the one who signs the omnis obstat of A Short Guide to Catholic Church History (Saint Fidgeta and Other Parodies, 51).

Inspiration[]

Orcus was a god of the underworld in Roman mythology.  From Orcus's association with death and the underworld, his name came to be used for demons and other underworld monsters, particularly in Italian where orco refers to a kind of monster found in fairy-tales that feeds on human flesh.  This orco was the inspiration to J. R. R. Tolkien's orcs in The Lord of the Rings[1].

Bugloss is a name used for several plants in the borage, or forget-me-not family[2].
