Mildred Jaeger is a citizen of New Zebedee and member of the Capharnaum County Magician's Society. She is one of the least-likely people to be thought of as a witch, what with her wand being a wooden baking spoon.
Mildred is the only magical person overlooked by the obscuring fog that made the CCMS invisible and intangible to the outside world. Her low powers were still adequate in transmitting a vital message to Jonathan Barnavelt and Mrs. Zimmerman, and that helped save the world. After all had been restored, she was respectfully indoctrinated into the Society.
Mrs. Jaeger is a gentle, kind, retiring woman who is content with spending her twilight years cooking, baking, and being helpful. During the events of DOOM we see she thinks very little of herself, but once Lewis and Rose Rita help her understand her own worth, she demonstrates a backbone and responsibility. She faces down the evil Jebidiah Clabbernong's powerful wife quietly and calmly, which is no small thing considering Clabbernong was strong enough to refer to Florence as 'Florence Busybody Zimmerman'
With her magic, things get...weird. Instead of a summons, she conjures a live, healthy goldfish. She Accidentally taps into a sort of dimensional wizardly newsroom that forecasts the battle with the evil Vanderhelm, and her mirror-magic inadvertently shows the wizard Friar Bacon, one of the characters in The Face in the Frost. Because of her distraction, she becomes the reason why his infamous magical brass head never lived up to his planned purposes. [1]
