Joseph Hilaire Pierre René Belloc was an Anglo-French writer and historian. He was one of the most prolific writers in England during the early twentieth century. His Catholic faith had a strong impact on his works. His poetry encompassed comic verses for children and religious poetry. His Cautionary Tales for Children (1907) was a popular children's book parody of the cautionary tales that were popular in the 19th Century[1].
