Harg was a Seventh Century Visigothic chieftain who, after murdering his cousin, Gorboduc, began constructing a cathedral named for his late cousin. Harg's conversion from pagan to Christian was the result of the hermit, Ulfag (Saint Fidgeta and Other Parodies; 33).
Inspiration[]
Bowen says the name Harg is "presumably a generic barbarian names" and “not any reference to anything.” In short, another example of the author’s odd words[1].
