Completed by Brad Strickland is the attribution phrasing used to denote those books that were originally conceived in some form by John Bellairs but finished through extensive additions and edits by Brad Strickland. The amount that Strickland completed varied with each book: the existing draft of The Ghost in the Mirror was "95 pages or so[1]" while The Drum, the Doll, and the Zombie existed only as a very short thumbnail plot sketch.

The phrase "Completed by Brad Strickland" was printed on the title page of four books published between 1993 and 1995, though only printed on the dust jacket of three books. Because production of the wraparound dust jacket had already been completed and printed at the time of Bellairs' death, The Ghost in the Mirror does not feature Strickland's name.

Attribution was changed to identify Strickland as the sole author of those books he created and wrote starting in 1996. In these cases, title pages and dust jackets prefaced the title with language to identify the characters as Bellairs's creation, such as "John Bellairs's Johnny Dixon in The Hand of the Necromancer" (1996) or "John Bellairs's Lewis Barnavelt in The Specter from the Magician's Museum" (1998).
