Father Cahalen is a priest that Lewis recalls when he recites a prayer, chanting it the way he heard the priest do during Mass (The Figure in the Shadows, 54).

About the Character

Mentioned only in passing, it is unclear whether the unnamed priest is one living and working in the New Zebedee parish or someone Lewis remembers from Milwaukee.

The character appears to be named after Marshall priest James Calahan, who served Saint Mary's Catholic Church from 1908 to 1919.  Other names from Saint Mary's that Bellairs incorporated into his fiction include Baart and Higgens.
