Baltimore, Maryland, is a city that, during Vatican III, an elderly American bishop misheard as being victim to a nuclear cataclysm - having misinterpreted the discussion of the Baltimore Catechism (Saint Fidgeta and Other Parodies, 93).

Baltimore is the largest city in the state of Maryland, and the 30th-most populous city in the United States. The city is rich in architecturally significant buildings in a variety of styles. The Baltimore Basilica (1806–1821) is a neoclassical design by Benjamin Latrobe, and also the oldest Catholic cathedral in the United States[1].
